About Vinny Nguyen
I started my career in 2010, studying under my mentor Tuyen Tran, to whom I owe my eternal gratitude. Everything you see here is the result of many years of practicing the art and every design has been custom-made for a specific individual. I specialize in Asian art, realism, and Biomechanical. If you’d like to a piece by me, please refer to the details of my creative process below. Knowing how I work will make the journey easier for both of us, and coming in for a consultation is a great way to facilitate this process even further.
All consultations are free and can be the perfect opportunity to both discuss the tattoo concept in person and leave a deposit right there in the shop. If you’d like to set up a consultation, give us an email or a call and we will fit you in as soon as possible.
Please understand that the work that you see here will take time to finish. For example, most sleeves take approximately 30 hours, a reality that should be considered when thinking about starting a larger tattoo project. It is a big commitment on both sides but is very achievable when planned correctly and realistically.
For smaller pieces that can be accomplished in a day, you can text or email me the idea, and I, or a member of my staff, will get back to you as soon as possible to discuss options. Once you are ready to make an appointment, you’ll have to send a deposit through my PayPal account or leave a deposit in person before we can pick an available date to tattoo.
Through all my years of experience, I believe that in order to professionally and sufficiently serve you, the steps of the creative process cannot be taken lightly. Thank you and I’m looking forward to creating something special for you.
The Creative Process
Given the nature of the style that I’ve set out to pursue, most of my pieces are large-scale. Form and flow are essential elements that allow the tattoo to be alive and they must exist harmoniously within the placement of the canvas. This requires an extended amount of preparation before the tattoo is committed to the skin. New clients who want to be tattooed should send me the idea through email and once commitments have been made and understood; the tattoo will be able to move forward in a reasonable amount of time.
On the day of the consultation, we will brainstorm the essential idea, articulating the elements, scaling the canvas, and making sure we are both on the same page as far as design goes. The design will then be custom-made for you prior to your first session and can be viewed on the day of without any fee of drawing. I am willing to go the extra mile for all my clients, to ensure that you are happy with the final result.
Most large-scale tattoo work, as a whole, will be done in black and gray on the first two sessions (preferably within the first week) to establish the foundation upon which the color will lay, it also allows the wearer to have an almost finished looking tattoo until the final sessions. Anything after the black and grey is to apply the color and texture required for a completed tattoo.
I understand and respect the boundary of different budgets and will try to work within the range of my clients. However, I work under a set and fair hourly rate. Of course, any costs as result of exceeding the estimated time that we initially discussed, will be compensated with a fair discount.
At this point, I’d like to thank all of my clients that have successfully gone through and accomplished this process. As a tattoo artist, we are challenged by the many aspects of limitation the human canvas creates and no such mastery or any level of accomplishment could be made without the people who persevere through this process. These people have always had my greatest admiration and respect, so to you, I’m very grateful.
Thank you for your time and dedication to reading this, and learning more about me and my process. I can’t wait to meet and work with you!
